LBC Vlissingen has taken the next step in the development of the Green Energy Hub in the Sloehaven. The Province of Zeeland has granted a permit for the planned tank terminal for the storage of methanol, biodiesel, and ammonia. Shortly thereafter, LBC received the Koploper Award from Nederland Waterstofland during the North Sea Port Conference.

Elia Transmission Belgium has been granted planning permission for two projects in the Ghent section of North Sea Port. These involve the construction of a new high-voltage substation in Kluizendok and the refurbishment of the existing Kennedylaan substation in Desteldonk.

Volvo Cars has reached an agreement with the federal and Flemish governments on new investments in the Ghent plant, giving this important industrial site in the North Sea Port region a new lease of life following a period of uncertainty regarding future production within the European network.

The State Secretary for Climate and Green Growth Jo-Annes de Bat has established the overall roadmap for the hydrogen network in the Southwest Netherlands. LBC Tank Terminals is developing plans in Vlissingen for a terminal for the import and storage of green ammonia, combined with CO₂ storage and the production of green hydrogen. The development is planned for the Sloehaven in North Sea Port and fits within the broader strengthening of the Scheldt Delta Region as a hub for energy, raw materials, and industrial infrastructure.

Gasunie and Fluxys Hydrogen have signed an agreement to jointly develop cross-border hydrogen connections between the Netherlands and Belgium. Through this partnership, both infrastructure operators are continuing to work on the expansion of transport infrastructure for hydrogen and other molecules in north-western Europe. Both Gasunie and Fluxys are partners within Smart Delta Resources.
